🎸 Glenn Hughes Returns with New Album Chosen – Out September 5, 2025
Rock legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes is back in the spotlight with the release of his brand-new studio album, Chosen, arriving September 5, 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl. After nearly a decade since his last solo release, Hughes is ready to make his triumphant return with an explosive new record that captures his signature mix of hard rock, soul, and funk.
✍️ A Deeply Personal Album
For Hughes, songwriting has always been as much a spiritual process as a musical one. Commenting on the new record, he explained:
“Songwriting is deeply personal to me, and I generally write and record when I have something to say. It’s been nine years since my last solo record Resonate. Since then, I’ve collaborated with many artists, but Chosen brings me back to my core.”
He continued:
“When writing Chosen, I went back to my life drawing board—writing about the human condition, love, hope, faith, and acceptance. I write about how I feel on the inside, not externally. My life is lived from within, in the present moment. It’s an album of soul food, and I’ve never been so grateful, right here on planet earth. Music is the healer!”
🎤 The Voice of Rock
Known as a “singer’s singer”, Hughes has influenced countless artists across generations. His unique fusion of hard rock intensity with undeniable soul power set him apart early in his career. Even Stevie Wonder famously dubbed him his favorite white singer—a testament to Hughes’ unmatched vocal range.
With Chosen, fans can expect Glenn Hughes at his hard rockin’ best—a state-of-the-art album that melds powerhouse performances with deeply meaningful songwriting.
🎶 A Look Back – From Trapeze to Deep Purple (and Beyond)
Hailing from Cannock, England, Hughes grew up immersed in everything from early British rock and The Beatles to American soul and R&B. These influences carried into his first band Trapeze, where he made waves in the early ’70s.
His career skyrocketed in 1973 when he joined Deep Purple, partnering with David Coverdale during a major lineup change. Though met with skepticism at first, Hughes helped revitalize the band with the release of 1974’s iconic Burn. The era saw Deep Purple headlining the legendary California Jam before an audience of over 300,000 and releasing classics like Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band.
Hughes went solo in 1977 with Play Me Out, collaborated on the cult-favorite Hughes/Thrall project in 1982, and lent his talents to legendary artists including Gary Moore, John Norum, and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. Since the ’90s, he has released a dozen solo albums exploring everything from groove-driven funk rock to hard-hitting modern soundscapes.
🤝 Recent Collaborations
Even before Chosen, Hughes has been busy. Earlier in 2025, he appeared on Robbie Williams’ single “Rocket”, which also reunited him with Tony Iommi for the first time since their 2005 collaboration Fused.
He has also joined forces with guitar legends Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in their new project Satch Vai, contributing vocals and lyrics to their thunderous single “I Wanna Play My Guitar”.
📀 Final Thoughts – A Glorious Return
With Chosen, Glenn Hughes reaffirms why he’s often referred to as The Voice of Rock. Nine years after his last solo outing, his return is a bold, soulful, hard-hitting statement that fuses decades of experience with a fresh, vital energy.
Fans can expect not only soaring vocals and monster riffs but also the heart and soul of an artist who still sees music as a force for healing and unity. As Hughes himself said: “Music is the healer.”
Mark your calendars for September 5, 2025—because Glenn Hughes is back, and he’s never sounded better. 🎶
