People around Peters Township and especially the Chamber of Commerce know Jenny.
The following is the transcript from Jenny’s discussion with Sharon St.Clair for you to read or watch the video.
Anytime I’m hanging out with Jenny it’s a good day. I want to welcome everybody. We’re going to do this on a monthly basis. We want you to live your best life. We want your home to live their best life as well. So we’re going to be giving you some monthly tips. And we’re also going to be coupling that with some additional resources.
We’re doing these as public service announcements, because when you know better, you do better. So let’s start out with October. It’s a beautiful time of the year. It’s autumn. No, and October, for those of you that don’t know, is also fire prevention month. So here’s, some tips, and then we’re going to give you a couple of resources at the end.
First of all, make sure that you have your smoke alarms and your carbon monoxide detectors. Make sure that those batteries are checked. This is a great time of the year because we’re changing the clocks, fall back, spring forward. Then also make sure that your fireplace is in good working order. Okay, I’ll remember that.
Yes. Thank you. And then also check your space heaters. Second, this is the time of the year where we’re wrapping up with our lawns. So it’s a great time of the year, any kind of service of your mowers, trimmers, or anything like that, lawn tools, go ahead and then drain the gas and the oil to make sure that you avoid engine damage.
Yes. Uh, number three, inspect the roof for damage. We’re coming into the season. We know what’s coming. We’re not going to talk about that and You know with snow and rain and things like that So you just want to check for your shingles cracks leaks that you know, that could be problems This is an easy way to start to head things off also Again, as much as we love our fall leaves, and it’s autumn, we also know that they can be, depending upon where the trees fall, they can clog your gutters.
Water to a house is like letting your child play in traffic, not something that we want to do. So, with that said, to basically make sure that those, remove the leaves and the debris to reduce any kind of water buildup and roof damage. You can also install. Better guards, if you, if need be. That’s a good tip, I didn’t even know about those.
And then last but not least, we have, lighting. Because we’re getting into, we all, we’re in holiday town, okay? And this is the time, so, light up Pittsburgh. This is the time exterior to start checking your lights, making sure that, you’re looking at exterior lighting, as well as interior lighting.
And for added security and visibility. Now, one other tip and I, and I’m thinking about this and I’m going to give you some resources in a second. We’ve had a lot of storms recently, right? Okay. You’ve been through a fire. I’ve been through a fire. And I know a lot of people that have, it’s life changing.
They have whole house surge protectors. available. That is also a resource if you have any questions about that I’m going to talk to you a moment about our concierge because I want to open that up as a public service announcement to the public. You can basically in the event of a of a storm and you know your computer gets fried or something like that a whole health surge protector.
Is something that is, another good measure of protection. Yes, absolutely. Yes. With that said, let’s talk about a couple of resources for everybody. First of all, I’m Sharon Sinclair of Keller Williams. We have a full concierge service. I want to do this as a public service announcement. A concierge is typically open to our clients only, past and present, because we have clients for life.
Um, but as part of this public service series, I want to open up our concierge to other people and members of the public. So please feel free to reach out to me. I can connect you. The concierge service that we have, just to be clear about this, they just make sure. That everyone is vetted.
They have all their proper insurances for, whatever kind of work needs to be done because people need resources of people that are reliable and have been fully vetted. And that’s what our concierge service does. We typically make that available to our clients. We have partnered with, a security company to help clients.
They can come out, they can review your home for safety. They can look at fire safety, they can look at security. That’s great. Yes. And if they have any kind of. Benefits or, the things that can help your family. They’re happy to do that and then give you the benefit of preferred pricing.
To be clear, I have no financial interest in anything other than I want people to be empowered, educated, to make good decisions and bring resources and tools to their family so that they’re safe and healthy. Think about fire extinguishers. There’s some, promotions going on around that right now.
Please feel free to reach out to us at any time. We can help you with that. And then last but not least, I’m really excited about this, Jenny. I used to own an inspection company. And that’s all about safety. Fire safety is part of that. I actually formed a partnership.
with a national company. We have, and what they can do is we can give them an electronic homeowner’s binder that has a lot of resources and tools. They can keep their records there, but it’s also additional resources that can be beneficial to them as homeowners and resources that they otherwise would not have.
As members of the public, you really can’t get this. It’s something that is very industry based. So we offer that to our past clients and our current clients, but we want to make some of these, available. We want to have a limited number, and we’re sponsoring this that we can make available to the public.
This is great. Now, what does this mean for fire safety month? Okay. You know that you have appliances and you have mechanicals, right? Did you know that one out of every 10 appliances is recalled? For safety reasons. And I can tell you a true story. Because I can’t write this. As an inspection company, we used to go in any time we did a home inspection when people were purchasing homes, we would get all of the mechanicals and the appliances registered.
We would then get those scrubbed. So if there were any recalls, the manufacturer either had to come back and service it or replace it at no cost to the homeowner. Oh, I like that. One out of every ten appliances is recalled. There was a recall to one of our clients who happened to be a fire chief. Fire was imminent when the technician arrived, because the wires, it was a dishwasher, and they had frayed.
That particular model was subject to fire because of the wiring, and they were all recalled. But there’s a lot of recalls that people don’t even know about. So if you want to reach out to us, we’ll be glad to get you connected up. You can get registered for your, electronic home binder. Then there’s a tutorial on how to get those numbers in and make sure that they get checked.
Oh, Sharon, thank you so much for being here and to giving the public a service announcement about Fire Safety Month is October. So we’ll see what, what November is going to be, but Sharon’s going to start doing this once a month and I’m so excited. Thank you so much for having me, Jenny. And like you always say, live your best life.
